Meet the Krewe

Meet Amanda, the daughter in our mother-daughter duo. She was born and raised in Louisiana and is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She moved to Texas after graduating college and has never looked back. Texas has been her home for over a decade and she even convinced her parents to relocate, too!

Amanda is a full-time elementary school teacher with more than 10 years of classroom experience. Teaching first graders has fostered a love of the younger ages where students are developing their curiosity and love of learning. She believes that creative expression is crucial to emotional, mental, and intellectual health at any age.

When she isn't in the classroom, Amanda loves being creative herself. She loves journaling, scrapbooking, photography, and crafting. She recently started a scrapbooking club in North Dallas.

Her hobbies outside of art include traveling, visiting restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and attending sporting events. 

 Rebecca was born and raised in the creative city of New Orleans, Louisiana. The city is surrounded with musicians, artists, crafters, etc. She grew up admiring her grandmothers’ creativity- sewing, embroidery, crocheting, ornament making. Her father had a painter for a brother and he loved to do woodworking and make flies for fishing as well. As a child, she loved to create things whether it was by making Barbie clothes, sewing, making ornaments, coloring and drawing, or anything that her imagination would dream up.

Rebecca developed that with her daughters as they grew up- having themed crafted birthday parties and craft days with them. They are now very talented adults with her daughter, Amanda, being a wonderful first grade teacher and her other daughter, Jessica, being a clothing designer. The creative process is also a large part of her classroom today. Rebecca has been a teacher for over 25 years bringing inspiration and confidence to young, creative minds.

In her free time, she still enjoys creative discovery by gardening, crafting, traveling, and interior decorating. Rebecca believes anyone, from child to adult, can gain pride and self confidence by allowing their creative spirit to shine through.
